The DeLorean:Helping Fair Weather Fans Gain Knowledge since ’09

The DeLorean is an 80's icon, taking Marty McFly "Back To The Future". On Tampa Bay Rays Fan, it will be used to discuss a player in the teams past, so all those bandwagon jumpers can sound a bit more educated when talking about their new favorite team.

The DeLorean is an 80's icon, taking Michael J Fox "Back To The Future", but for all practical purposes on Tampa Bay Rays Fan, it will be used as a figurative bit of imagery to talk about a player from the teams past...so all those bandwagon jumpers can know a bit about their new favorite teams history.something happened that the team had never seen before : people started jumping on their bandwagon.

Last season, as the Rays became more and more of a Cinderella story across Major League Baseball, something happened.

More and more people who never cared about the team when they were in the cellar of the AL East starting to jump on the teams bandwagon and celebrate their successes.

That phenomina is something that is inevitible in sports. A team starts to win out of no where, and suddenly, is is “cool” to be part of that excitement and hysteria that builds as the number in the win column increases.

To some, that may be exciting, but to a true fan, it can be a bit irritating.

Suddenly you see hundreds and thousands of people in the streets, wearing your teams gear, supporting the current squad, yet knowing NOTHING about the history of the team, or where they came from.

Which has inspired me to start a series for Tampa Bay Rays Fan called “The DeLorean”.

We will be taking a look at a player from the franchises history that most fans today may not know even put on a Rays jersey in the past.

So that said ladies and gentlemen, get ready to jump in the passenger seat, check the flux capacitor and gun it to 88mph as we take a look as some of the stars…and duds…that helped write the history book of Tampa Bay baseball, and will always hold a place in the hearts of a true Tampa Bay Rays Fan.
