Swindle the Underdog

DRaysBay contributor Steve Slowinski makes it no secret that he loves “Marginal players.  Actually, to be more specific, I love quirky, underdog players – those players that may or may not be very talented, but are entertaining as heck to watch and follow”

That brings us to newly acquired LOOGY R.J. Swindle whose 84 MPH sidearm fastball is hoping to crack this years bullpen.

Our very own 30/30 threat

Wouldn’t it be epic if the Rays had a 30 homer/30 steal threat on their team? Well, according to Ben Pavlovic, we very well may.

Underachieving, yet on the cusp of greatness, B.J. Upton could fill that void. Upton has been downed for dogging it when he pouts, and for not giving his all to the Rays organization, but it is important to remember–the guy is 25, and loaded with talent, and now he has a hitting coach, Derek Shelton, who is molding him to reach that potential has.
