The Tampa Bay Rays brought in YET ANOTHER bullpen arm, signing relief pitcher Jason Isringhausen to a minor league deal.
Isringhausen was brought on board with the idea that if healthy, he may be able to compete for the closer

Jason Isringhausen will hope to crack the opening day lineup after signing minor league deal with the Rays.
job with Troy Percival, or if nothing else, provide more depth in case Percival can not make a full recovery from back surgery.
At 36, Isringhausen has pitched in the in the majors for 13 years, with the New York Mets, Oakland Athletics and St. Louis Cardinals. He has been an All-Star once, in 2000 with the Athletics.
Isringhausen is 45-49 for his career and has posted a 3.61 ERA, 749 strikeouts and 293 saves, with batters hitting only .239 against him.
I think this move is a good one for the Rays. If Isringhausen does somehow make the 25 man roster to start the season, he will help bring more veteran leadership to this still rather young squad. That coupled with the fact he has seen some postseason duty with the recent success of the Cardinals. That is something that could go miles towards helping this years squad down the stretch.
If he does NOT make the big league roster to start the season, he will be a great asset in the minors helping to groom some of our young pitching talent.
